PHILADELPHIA

The Sisters of the Order of St.Basil the Great were transferred from the Yavoriv monastery to America in order to help with the masses of poor parishioners. The sisters, led by Mother Helena Langevych, took it upon themselves to start an orphanage, which eventually developed into a boarding school, and finally a junior college. In March of 2000, the sisters finally fulfilled their wish of developing a spiritual center with the construction of the Holy Trinity Chapel.

Our studio was commissioned to design spiritual artwork for the entire interior of the chapel. This included the design of ornamentation and iconography in the sacristy, the design and construction of a new iconostasis and the writing of all the Byzantine icons within the space. The design and placement of the icons in the iconostasis as well as the icons on the surrounding walls develop the feeling of standing within the iconostasis itself.
